Take 1
Our assessment began as a wonderful, intricate rubric that covered every possible area of the Environment and all the different topic areas that had been generated from the initial brainstorming. We needed to make it suitable for and relevant to all students in the project from year 5 to year 10.
An impossible task you say!
Well, yes it was.

Take 2
After some reflection we asked, "What is it that we actually want to assess?"
Our answer was, that we wanted to assess:
*The students' ability to take part in a collaborative online project.
*Their ability to communicate effectively online to construct knowledge.
*How they support and give feedback to others online.
*How responsible they can be working, mostly unsupervised (though monitored) online.
We felt the best form of assessment was student self assessment. This is mainly because each group teacher didn't have intimate knowledge of the students abilities from the other two schools and many factors may have negatively influenced teacher assessment of all students in their group. As an example, not all students had individual access to a computer and were sharing with another student, this may have meant that a particular students presence in Edmodo may not have been seen as they were working with others from their school and posting was done by a representative from that group.
