This is me ! I am a PE/Health/History teacher at Eltham High School and have been here for 2 years now. It is the beginning of my teaching journey as I completed my teaching degree at the end of 2009. My interest in sport and health has developed throughout my life journey. I begun playing basketball and tennis when I was 5 and still continue playing both of these sports. I also enjoy playing golf and volleyball. I coach both basketball and volleyball at Eltham High School.
ICT is something that interests me as I am forever learning new and wonderful tools. There are so many people out there with fantastic and innovative ideas to share with the rest of us. I find that I am so lucky to grow up in an era of technological changes including mobile phones, internet, ipods etc.
As a beginning teacher I am still learning the craft and gaining knowledge from some expert teachers around me. In the future, I see myself continuously learning ICT skills and bringing them into my classrooms to enhance student learning.
My Reflection ! Coming into this project I had no idea what to expect. The first day was an eye opener with so many people having such strong views on 21st Century learning and what it meant to them and to our community as a whole. For me, I saw this as an opportunity to grow as a teacher and as a learner of my profession. I was lucky enough to be placed in this group where I felt that I played more of a passive role. Thinking I had a wide range of knowledge about ICT and the tools that we could use with students, I was wrong. My group shared information, ideas, programmes that I had never heard of. All of which I am excited to use in my classroom next year.
Environment was not my first selection, in fact my knowledge of the environment is next to zero. It was a challenge for our group to come up with ideas on what we wanted to do for this project. After numerous Elluminate sessions and emails we came up with what we thought would work for our 3 schools. I was lucky enough to be working in a classroom with Craig where I got to watch and learn his crafts and ideas. I was exposed to different programmes and taught how to use them.
The students from each of the schools did an outstanding job bringing this project together. It was a privledge working with professionals from other areas and learning new things. It took a lot of work to bring this project together and I think our day at Federation Square was quite significant. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be part of this group.
